Thomas Mac Donagh - One of the 7 signatories of the Irish Proclamation of Independence in 1916

THOMAS MAC DONAGH

1878-1916

Born in 1878, Mac Donagh, poet, critic and dramatist, shared the political and cultural ideals of Padraig Pearse with whom he taught in St. Endas school, Rathfarnham. He was Director of Training of the Irish Volunteers and, as Commandment of the Dublin Brigade, held Jacobs factory during the Rising. He was executed 3rd May, 1916.
